Monte Vista National Wildlife Refuge, located in the beautiful San Luis Valley in south-central Colorado, provides resting and breeding habitat for more than 200 bird species as they migrate north in the spring.
Monte Vista sits at 7,800 feet and is surrounded by three mountain ranges containing many 14,000 foot peaks.
It's small size makes for closely packed population of Sandhill Cranes and Snow Geese in the spring where photography opportunities abound.
